bike frame

hey Curt, what do you think of this frame? ... it's the one I mentioned. GT LTS 2000

I've told a guy I was going to donate it to community cycles, but maybe you'd be interested in building it out? not sure how much it'd cost me to mail it. Anyway, figured I'd have you check it out.

here's a pic of squaw peak. Clay and I decided to have a ride down memory lane while in UT.

busted pedal

I busted my pedal a week or so ago and hope warranty covers the replacement costs. I also bent a ring on my cassette a few weeks back. Got that replaced with the warranty so that was cool. The wiper on my shock came off last ride and was leaking oil so I got that checked out at the shop today - $10 and they said to let'm know if I have any more problems.

new trail near Boulder

I think Clay and I are going to try this new trail tomorrow (or this weekend). Check it out ... there are some decent pics:

Looking at a new crank set

Yo - this post is more for Curt because he has the local know-how in Boise to do this, but would this crank set fit my bike. I currently have LX so I don't see what the problem would be.
Auction ID 170151490239 on ebay.
Let me know so I can buy it baby!

New Crankset?

What's up mtn biking brothers? I have determined I need to get a new crankset for my bike. I was riding to work the other day and stopped at a stop light. I did not clip out of my pedals because I wanted to look like a bad-ass.

That was going well until the light turned green and I put some force behind the pedals. My chain slipped/fell off and I tipped over in the road. I went from bad to just plain ass in seconds. Since then, I have had a lot of slipping on the middle ring so I am going to replace it.

Any suggestions?

Curt, do you have the tools/know how for doing the switcheroo?

CO Trail - Swan River

Here's a video from the trail Dan, Tom and I rode earlier today. Some of the best singletrack I've ever ridden. The swithback in the video was the most technical thing on the trail. Almost put my front tire over the edge to make it around.

Clay's King of the Boulder Mtn

We've been trying without success for a while now to make a tough uphill at the base of the link trail to the Betasso Loop. Clay made it this morning at the beginning of the ride, then again after we did the loop. I kept trying but couldn't get it done, which is good motivation. We've only seen one other guy make it, and the large majority don't even make it half way up.

We're going to Breckenridge tomorrow and will hit a new trail on Saturday. Should be fun.

Is Anthony gettin' out on the bike at all? How'd the tubeless tire thing work out, Curt?

camera mount

I made this mount earlier today for my half-broken camera to do video shots. Hope it works. We'll find out tomorrow morning after riding Walker Ranch.

Maverick video

Cool footage of different bikes suspension in action found on Maverick's website. Surprisingly they think their suspension design is superior.

I doubt I'd be able to feel the difference between the different company's gimmicks, but it's cool to see the different bikes in action.

shoes/pedals

I got my shoes yesterday and rode w/ them today. They're a lot lighter than my old pair and have a quickstrap like snowboard bindings for on the fly adjustments. I adjusted them once on the trail after getting them wet riding through a creek. Submerged my crank entirely. Probably not the best thing for a bike. I didn't think it'd be that deep. Anyway, I also got new pedals because I like the look of the eggbeater w/o the platform. $35 on eBay - eggbeater MXR.

The two downhills on Walker Ranch that we rode today were awesome.

Another pic of Clay tuning my bike

Clay bought a bunch of cool tools. I paid $30 for new cables and housing ... seemed expensive. Is it?
I posted pics on Hawkley blog but here's one more.

White Ranch

Good ride today. A little wet and slick. Still some snow in areas. Lots of rocks and waterbars, so there was a lot of wet back tire spinouts. Overall, it was more than either of us were ready for and the map was confusing at times, so we went the wrong way a few times. There's a network of trails there, so next time we can cut a few parts out and make it more manageable. The pic is of one of the rockier/root sections. Dan's camera ran out of memory. Otherwise there'd be one of me riding down it. Pretty straight forward. Hold on, use the brakes sparingly and keep your cool.

my entire bike isn't worth any of you guyses bikes' parts

We have surprisingly good weather - no snow as was the forecast - so we're going biking tomorrow AM.

bike stand

I bought this bike stand today. Park Tools PCS-10 - $150. I need to adjust my front derailer and don't wanna pay some guy $30 to do it for me. It's a nice stand, with quick release clamps for everything. Anyway, hopefully I can figure it out and learn how to do the regular maintenance on my own. Dan says he needs a front derailer adjustment too, so maybe the two of us can figure it out.

Heil Ranch pic

Loading the bikes up just after our ride. My heart rate monitor went outta control for a bit. Reported 223 bpm. It was good to be on the trail. Neither of us had bike problems or wrecks. Suppose to storm starting tomorrow night. Reports are 6"-12" between Thursday night and Friday. Maybe next week we'll be able to get more riding in.

Heil Ranch 1

I like the new egg-beater pedals. I think I need to put another shim beneath my left cleat - it seems a bit difficult to get into - but other than that they feel real secure once I'm clipped in, and they clip out w/ ease.

Heil Ranch is a super rocky trail. Most of the rocks are medium sized and embedded in the trail, but there are quite a few loose ones to pop up into your spokes and plenty of jagged ones to avoid. Probably not so bad if your driving some rich-boy full suspension get-up. There are a few smooth sections but they don't last quite long enough.

Tonight!

We're doing Hall Ranch as soon as Clay's off work. If All Weather High Performance gets to be "All Weather High Performance", I'm calling dibs on "Blogger Dan".

Together we shall ride

This post is more for Curt - I know I could just call him, but the chances of someone anwering are a lot lower than the chances that Curt will read this post. I guess I could just email him, but I already started the blog so...
We should try to go riding some evening this week. I need to go at least once a week if I want the pain in my seat to stop killing me half-way through rides.
For those who don't know, our last mountain biking trek sucked because everytime I started riding with any sort of speed down hill, my rear tire would go flat. I ended up walking a lot of prime riding terrain. I think I'll buy a tube to carry with me and a little pump for next time. My tire is holding air fine now, but who knows what will happen when I get to my next down hill.

Someday, We Shall Bike

Thanks again for the pedals, Curt. Now if the weather would only cooperate.
